We are always open to new artists to review or just listen to, so we thought we should make a page where our readers can recommend new music we should try out. If you haven’t done so, please read the About page for an indication of our favorite genres and artists as a basis for your suggestions. Bonus points if you can provide a link to any relevant videos. If you have anything, please comment below!

  1. Well, i saw you like Rock music on your “About” page, so i’ll recommend a few good rock musicians or groups I like (no v-kei, though):

Yousei Teikoku (Kusou Mesorogii – one of their best songs)

Kotoko (She mostly does techno, but her rock songs are awesome)

May’n (One excellent singer! This is my favourite song by her)

Eri Kitamura (She may sound a bit timid for your tastes here, but her main genre is actually symphonic metal – rock and violins :3)

Nana Mizuki (Could find only the live version of this soong, but if you have the chance, see her other work, too. She is the queen of today’s J-Pop.)

    • Thanks for the recommendations!

Oohh, I know Kotoko and May’n because they each have a song tied to Accel World, however I haven’t been able to look into them too much, so I’ll make sure to do that now! (Love the two songs you mentioned for them though!) I’ve only heard Eri Kitamura’s ‘Destiny’, and only, like, three songs from Yousei Teikoku (two of them was because they were ending themes for Kurokami: The Animation). And believe it or not, I haven’t looked into Nana Mizuki’s music much either… shocker… :p Will do now!

So thank you very much ^.^

[Update: I just got Nana Mizuki’s ‘ROCKBOUND NEIGHBORS’, so I shall be reviewing that in due time!]

  2. Yay someone else who likes rock music. Here’s some of my recommendations. Hope you find an artist you like :-)

Zwei – They’re not as good as they used to be, gone more anison now by still good.
    Junjou Spectra:

Phantasm (FES C.V. Yui Sakakibara) – Awesome goth metal as Phantasm, but beware her solo work!
    Preghiera no Tsukiyo ni:

Versailles – The only visual kei band I like but broke up last year :-(

UVERworld – Quite an experimental rock band who incorparate synths, rapping and saxophones. Their latest album was pretty good.
    7th Trigger:

Onmyouza – Straight metal with some of the best vocalists (male and female) and guitarists I’ve seen. Their most recent album “Kishibojin” is my favourite.

LIV MOON – A symphonic metal band with an operatic vocalist. They don’t seem to do singles.

Kalafina – A pop/classical (hard to describe their style) with three female vocalists. Their work is featured in anime such as Kara no Kyoukai and Fate/Zero. I love them.
    Red Moon (Live):

GRANRODEO – A hard rock band with anime tie-ins. Their recent two albums are much better than their earleir stuff.
    Rose Hip-Bullet:

ayami – An up-and-coming anison singer, has only released one single so far.
    Apocalypse of Destiny:

abingdon boys school: My favourite band, with Takanori Nishikawa as vocalist. They never fail to impress me. Unfortunately slow with releases for a J-Rock band, but I suppose quality over quantity…

Anyway that’s a lot of stuff so hopefully there’s something good in there.
